Night Falls
Night is the friend who falls.
Never does it dawn or rise or break
Comfort freely offered as my keepsake
Beguiling me with its tender peace
Seeking my secrets to release
Seeing through my walls.
Night falls from stillness of earth.
Caressing me with its silent speech
Its honesty within my reach
Keeper of secrets, no demands
Easing my anguish with its hands
Encouraging my rebirth.
Night falls from celestial senses.
The master conductor of sounds and light
Fireflies blink as they take to their flight
Heat flash lightning, songs from the wise
Illuminating secrets with ears and eyes
No pretenses.
Night falls from darkened mystery.
Cavernous shadows on the rim of time
Thoughts of entering their depths are thoughts sublime
To wander in obscurity, lost but aware
Kindred spirits, with burning desire to share
Our history.
Our mystery.
Night falls
Enthralls
Sees all
And calls …
To me.
